Perfect circle

Apologies for not posting in so long — just a combination of workload, illness and general loss of momentum…

I will try to do better — not necessarily in the next few days as I’m working on a looooong, yet urgent project while preparing for a vacation at the same time. I hope to be back on schedule by mid-March, hopefully with some interesting underwater photos, and I will try to squeeze in a few post before we leave.

Today was only the second or third time this entire winter that I had to shovel snow (which I don’t actually mind doing) and I was rewarded with some instant art.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Hidden

These were taken on our first day in Bhutan last year. We had just arrived and decided to just hang out at the guest house for a while to recover from the travel. I took the camera and explored the grounds a bit when I came across these unremarkable-looking, brownish-greyish butterflies:Except that then one of them gave the game away: I don’t have better photos, unfortunately — these guys clearly know that they attract attention when they open their wings and prefer a life in obscurity. (But they definitely made us decide to invest in a macro lens.)

If anyone can put a name to them, I’d be most grateful. This would be a species that is comfortable living at high altitudes and fairly chilly temperatures in the Himalayas.

Evening Sky With Cherry Tree

Just thought I’d share this impression from my evening walk with Isla. I really liked the paper cut-out quality of it, in addition to the colour. Unfortunately, it’s only an fuzzy cellphone snapshot — I really should listen to the Husband and always take the camera along… Hope you like it anyway.
