Not only is this bird flying up, it’s starting from a pretty high point already. This photo was taken on Zugspitze, Germany’s highest mountain.

These beautiful birds (which Wikipedia informs me are Alpine Choughs (learn something every day) clearly enjoy coasting on the thermal winds.

And when they get hungry, they’ll come to check out the cookie situation:
