I haven’t done a photo challenge in a while but thought the current subject would be the perfect excuse to share this great picture taken by the Husband.
It’s two manatees, two reflections, two elements — but also about the two of us. When asked at the end of last year for our highlight of 2011, we both independently answered: Swimming with the manatees! And then looked at each other semi-guiltily because 2011 also happened to be the year we got married. But I think the very fact that we have the same priorities is also the secret to our happy relationship (eleven years and counting). And the manatees really were absolutely amazing.
I love sea cows…we would go to the local creek and watch them swim by.
Yes, they’re gentle giants. What made me sad was to see that almost all of them had deep scars from boat engines. While we were there, a mother and a calf were being released by a rescue group after the mom had got tangled up in and severely wounded by a fishing line that someone had just left behind. There is a video here:

What a wonderful photo – so glad you took it and had that opportunity.

Thank you. It really was an amazing experience. We were there for several days, and often the calves came to play with us. One even chewed on my hand but when it turned out that there was no greenery growing on it, it lost interest.:) (They’re strictly vegetarian.)
this couple is so cute!
