One down

It was time for a trip to the vet for Isla — the yearly vaccinations and her check-up were due and I also wanted a blood test, just to be on the safe side — and while she behaved better than usually (the vet refers to her as “The Cat Who Does Not Like Me”), she clearly needed to recover afterwards. However, I had moved some plants around to make room since I have finally managed to convince the window people that my leaky one needed replacing (after several visits during which they claimed the puddle on my floor was “just condensation” or else tweaked the closing mechanism a bit) and this made the familiar bookshelf look oh so interesting again:

Yes, I need way more bookshelves...

And when I then heard rustling noises from next door, I knew someone had fully recovered.Charlie’s turn on Friday.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Faces

The Husband and I went on a short trip to Munich last week, hence the silence — still trying to catch up.

I’ve been scrolling through my pictures to find an entry for the current photo challenge and I think this one is it. I love that every one of these youngsters has a different expression on his or her face — and of course the girl with the pout rules.:)

The photo was taken during a motorbike trip through Bhutan last November. The kids are waiting for their school bus and trying to hide their amusement at these funny foreigners having a flat tire… (I think it was totally worth it.)

Fall is coming

Just a few cellphone pictures from a quick walk to the mailbox to post my tax return. I discovered the first few coloured leaves on the ground. Fall is coming.

I usually go barefoot when I’m out with the cats or when going to the mailbox. I am sure the neighbours find this extremely weird — but I walked barefoot in this street decades ago, when most of them weren’t even here yet. So I deem it my prerogative.:)

There are a couple of hazelnut trees in our street. When I was a little girl, I would collect the husks and my grandmother would dry them on her oven until the nuts fell out. People don’t seem to do this anymore. It is fun to watch the crows, however. They sit and wait for a car to drive by and crack the nuts for them. Clever creatures!
